A wonderful two days for the WA OK Dinghy sailors who participated in the 2024 WA OK Dinghy pre nationals coaching clinic supported by the Ron Tough Yachting Foundation.
Current ILCA 6 AST Olympic coach Mikael Lundh was able to be secured to conduct the clinic for the fleet.
4 boats took part in the 2-day clinic. With coaching being undertaken as part of the Sail Freo regatta. This was a great opportunity for the OK sailors to have access to an on-water coach for the racing.
The schedule was rigorous. Pre-race meetings, then then an early start each day for the on-water component. Once back on shore, it was a quick pack up before attending our extensive and rewarding debrief.
The insights gained from the debrief for each individual, were invaluable.
This clinic has advanced our fleet as we prepare for a busy schedule in 2025 including the Australian Nationals at Black Rock Yacht Club Victoria in Jan 25, followed by the European Championships in Warnemunde in July 25, and the World Championships in Lake Garda in September 25. This was a thoroughly rewarding weekend. Having the rare opportunity to access coaching provided by one of the most sought-after coaches in the business is invaluable.
